(9 jun. 1836, Aldeburgh, Suffolk, Inglaterra–17 dic. 1917, Aldeburgh).
Médico británica. Se le negó el ingreso a las escuelas de medicina, estudió privadamente con médicos en hospitales de Londres, y fue la primera mujer licenciada en medicina en Gran Bretaña (1865). Designada médico general tratante del St. Mary's Dispensary (Dispensario de Santa María) (1866), posteriormente llamado New Hospital for Women (Nuevo Hospital de Mujeres), creó una escuela de medicina para mujeres, y en 1918 se bautizó con su nombre el hospital.
